Taxonomic Issues for Multimodal and Multimedia Interactive Systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
One trend in Human Computer Interaction is to extend the sensory-motor capabilities of computer systems to better match the natural communication means of humans. Parallel to the exploratory development of such systems, significant effort is being deployed in defining frameworks and taxonomies for reasoning about the design space of such systems. This article is a preliminary effort to review current frameworks and taxonomies, focussing on the ways they complement each other.

Introduction: Using standard authoring tools is essential to promote E-Learning in teaching-learning process. Learning content in medical sciences often consists of multimedia elements. On the other hand, it is frequently required to revise and update the medical content. Hence, access to the authoring tools that can encompass multimedia elements and allow easy content revision is helpful in e-...
متن کاملOptical Tracking for Music and Dance Performance
This paper describes three different types of real-time optical tracking systems developed at the MIT Media Laboratory for use as expressive human-computer interfaces in music, dance, and interactive multimedia performances. Two of these, a multimodal conducing baton and a scanning laser rangefinder, are essentially hardware-based, while the third is a computer vision system that can identify a...
متن کاملA novel framework for retrieval and interactive visualization of multimodal data
With the abundance of multimedia in web databases and the increasing user need for content of many modalities, such as images, sounds, etc., new methods for retrieval and visualization of multimodal media are required. In this paper, novel techniques for retrieval and visualization of multimodal data, i.e. documents consisting of many modalities, are proposed. A novel cross-modal retrieval fram...
